Gently Used School Supply Collections

It's that time of year...when students come home with barely used school supplies parents can't decide what to do with. Let's help give those supplies a new life! If you are interested in hosting a Gently Used School Supply Collection at your school, business, or place of worship, let's make it happen! We'll bring the supplies to a low-income school or organization in our community.

How it Works: You can choose between Full School / Company involvement or Teachers Only. Email bethany@mygreenearth.org to let us know if you plan to participate!

Teachers Only Collection: Even teachers have a lot to toss at year-end. Simply announce the date to your teachers, ideally the first day students aren't there. Have teachers leave supplies outside of their classroom. Recruit a few parents and students to bring rolling carts around to collect the supplies (only take what is gently used, no junk). Load into your cars, and deliver to our storage facility off of Gordy Pkwy in Marietta (see below for details).

Full School / Company Collection: Choose the bin you'd like to use for collections. Need a bin? Let us know - we have extras. Choose your collection dates: we recommend May 15 - 29. Place this sign on your bin - there's space to add your logo if you'd like. Announce the program via social media, email, and newsletters using this flyer or one you create. 

After the Collection Details:
On June 2 from 10am - 12pm, bring all collected supplies to The Space Shop at 2925 W Frank Gordy Pkwy, Marietta, GA 30066. If that time doesn’t work, we will coordinate a time convenient for you. Interested in volunteering during the drop-offs? Sign up here! All ages welcome.

Social Media Post Example: Use this text for your social media post if you'd like:

Are your kiddos bringing home backpacks full of still-new or barely-used school supplies? Do you have a stash of "just-in-case" supplies you no longer need? We'll take them! Please only bring supplies in good condition so they can be used with pride by children in low-income areas of Metro Atlanta. We will also take workbooks and books in good condition.

P.S. If you have items to donate but aren't interested in hosting a collection, we will have a bin placed at Space Shop on Gordy Parkway from May 15 - May 29. Additional collection locations will be announced.
