Buy Less, Plant More

Last November, My Green Earth celebrated Green Friday by flipping the script on traditional Black Friday. Our team spent the morning welcoming shoppers into Patagonia’s Buckhead store and hosting free growing workshops, giving away eco-themed stickers, and selling Grow Kits to encourage thoughtful and planet-friendly gifting.

We are grateful to Patagonia for hosting us and for donating $296 worth of Patagonia gear as a raffle prize, and more broadly grateful for their continued leadership in reuse, repair, and environmental responsibility. We also extend heartfelt thank you to Ocean Made for donating kelp pots, which were included in our Grow Kits. These innovative, plantable pots offer a planet-friendly alternative to plastic and gave participants a hands-on way to grow something meaningful at home. It was a powerful reminder that even small product choices can support healthier ecosystems.

At its heart, Green Friday is about choosing community over consumption and impact over excess. We are proud to partner with businesses that make it easier to live our values, and we’re inspired by everyone who joined us in showing that sustainability isn’t just for one day. It’s a mindset we can carry forward all year long.

As we step into a new year, Green Friday doesn’t have to end. The spirit of choosing growth over consumption is something we can carry with us every day. Each small choice: to repair instead of replace, to grow something instead of buying something, to support businesses aligned with our values, adds up to meaningful change.

The new year is a fresh invitation to live more intentionally. Whether it’s planting a seed, reducing waste, volunteering in your community, or simply pausing before making a purchase, these everyday actions shape the world we want to see. Together, we can make sustainability not just a moment, but a mindset.
